You Are Not Alone
Over 120,000 kids are diagnosed with epilepsy annually throughout the U.S. That’s one every five minutes. It affects children at different ages, and in different ways.
For some, it will be a temporary problem, easily controlled with medication and outgrown after a few years. For nearly 40%, it may be a lifelong challenge affecting many areas of their lives and the lives of those around them.
The good news is that medical treatment of childhood epilepsy is getting better: more medications to control seizures are now available and research towards a cure continues. However, the cost of quality medical care continues to escalate, resulting in an immense financial burden on families fighting against epilepsy. For many families, the cost of medication alone can be upwards of $3,000 a month, and that is not even including the associated costs of travel, tools and devices, and providing appropriate care for the child.
CeCe Cares Pediatric Epilepsy Foundation is dedicated to providing joy and support to children living with epilepsy. Our mission is carried out by raising funds for The CeCe Bear® Initiative, which donates teddy bears to the leading pediatric epilepsy centers across America to provide comfort to the children being treated and financial support to the families challenged with paying for it.
